Before you travel

• Check vaccination requirements early. Some destinations — parts of East Africa in particular — require proof of yellow fever vaccination for entry. Requirements can take weeks to fulfil, so check as soon as you book, not the week before you fly.
• Review your destination's health advisories. Malaria risk, water safety, and altitude considerations vary widely even within a single country. Your consultant can flag anything specific to your itinerary.
• Confirm passport validity. Most destinations we book require at least six months' validity remaining on your passport from your date of entry, plus blank visa pages.
• Register any pre-existing medical conditions with your insurer. Standard travel insurance often excludes pre-existing conditions unless declared upfront.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance on every trip, covering at minimum:

• Emergency medical treatment and evacuation
• Trip cancellation or interruption
• Lost, delayed, or stolen luggage
• Activity-specific cover if your trip includes diving, hiking at altitude, or other adventure activities not covered by standard policies

While you're away

• Keep copies of key documents. A photo of your passport, insurance policy number, and emergency contacts stored separately from the originals (and backed up to cloud storage) makes replacing lost documents far less stressful.
• Know your resort or hotel's emergency protocols. Most properties we book brief guests on this at check-in — worth actually listening to.
• Stay reachable. Local SIM cards or international roaming plans keep you contactable by your consultant and your insurer if anything comes up mid-trip.
